Atlanta, Georgia Part II

Had a great rehearsal tonight. Just got in. The guys are great – they’ve got everything totally down. One shot & out.

Earlier today, got up about 10 & straight to Waffle House to ward off impending ‘tour colds’ with cheap coffee and bacon. That’s how you do it, right?

Worked through the day til 8pm and hit the studio just down the street. Now we’re pumped & can’t wind down.

Got a show tomorrow night at Lenny’s Bar in Atlanta. Come down and see us, people of Atlanta – it’ll be one blinder of a show (check the Shows page for more details).

And, as something a little different on the video front, I filmed this interview with a returned soldier from the war in Iraq. 18 years old, he took me through being shot at, hit by shrapnel and scorched by a chemical bomb (he points out the body wounds) – and explains how he’s coping with life on the other side. Please excuse my interview technique (and ‘slight’ intoxication) – it was right after the show at One For The Road, last week in Florida…

Checkya tomorrow,

Florida USA Tour Vid Shows 4&5

It’s Sunday night, we just arrived back from northern Florida after shows in Orlando and Holiday (near Tampa). We’ve had 4 shows, 4 nights in a row. Just a little on the tired side tonight, sitting here back in Wellington FL. Tomorrow we hit the road for Atlanta, Georgia for a show there on Wed at Lenny’s Bar, then to Athens for a show Thurs at Rye Bar. We’re told Atlanta is about 11 hours form here.

The video below is a quick snippet – hanging out at the house party on Friday night and post-show drinkin’ in Holiday on Saturday (last night).

Checkya tomorrow,

Bardot Miami Last Night

Bardot is one of the most beautiful clubs we’ve played. The show there last night was intimate, eye-to-eye and great fun. The walls of the club were adorned with a mix of kinky-sex art, antique collections, book-shelves (featuring works on architecture, music and sex) and sculpture. You could buy a bottle of rose for $795, if it took your fancy. An uber-cool club – and there we were, standing in the middle of it playing through one of the finest PA’s imagineable.

The club was pretty packed for the 90 minute set. We were exhausted by the end. I raced to the bathroom to change my clothes. Even with the air-con, I apparently had steam coming off my arms and head.

(Above: Max hams it up on the grand piano / merch stand)

We all felt great about the show, hung out for a bit, then packed the car for the ride home back to Lake Worth. While loading, some poor guy was getting his truck repossessed in the car park. Problem was, the tow-truck guy hooked up while the ‘owner’ was asleep in his vehicle. There was a lotta yelling, pushing and shoving – and I was waiting for a pistol to come out. In the end it all fizzled and the repo-man won.

We’re about to drive up to Orlando for a show there tonight at A HOUSE. Looking forward to it – and catching up with Jesse and Eric.

Hit us on Facebook.

Checkya tomorrow.

Cops Shut Down Show at Boynton FL Part 2

Here’s the video from last night…

Mid way through the 3rd song, 3 squad cars rolled up to the gate and a gang of scary-looking armed police officers swarmed the venue. The power was cut. That was that. No explanation.

(From the post below) John, from Routine Scheme, got on the phone and organised to take the whole show to another club. In less than one hour, we were packed up and set back up a few miles away at another club – One For The Road (where we played last time).

If you were there, thanks for coming to the show at Boynton Beach… and then coming to the show again at Lake Worth.

Thanks to everybody who pitched in to move all the equipment (an army of people jumped in, worked together and relocated all the gear). And thanks to Ayala for guerrilla transport.

Fires out.

PS Miami show tonight at Bardot.
