Portman’s Music Savannah

We slept in this morning – so we were late checking out of the hotel next to Portmans Music in Savanna, Georgia – where Kent hosted a drum clinic today. The clinic was great. Kent’s a confident teacher who held the audience in the palm of his hand for the 90 minute show, through tales of touring, being a session drummer for famous acts and playing shows in front of huge crowds.

After the clinic we played an acoustic song in the store & filmed it for the next monthly Hose Down email (due out this week). After recording the song, we met a Hula Hoop dancer called Jessica, who proceeded to demonstrate this wonderful skill for us in the parking lot. Maybe she’ll join us on stage when we’re back in Savannah later this year. (That’s her in the pic above)

The shot above: Hanging at Cancun Cafe (Mexican restaurant) near Portman’s Music just after the clinic.

Right now, we’re on the road to New York City, driving through South Carolina (we’ve got some miles ahead of us). Our next show is Arlene’s Grocery on Manhattan Island NYC, this Wednesday at 7pm.

Checkya tomorrow,

Fires In Orbit

Last night we played a 3 set show at Orbit 19 Bar, Holiday, Florida. It was the 5th show in a row, this week – and one of our favourite shows for the tour so far. The crowd there was fantastic. Again, great meeting everybody during and after the show.

And now, we’re on the road to Savannah, Georgia for a show tomorrow. Kent’s hosting a drum clinic at a music store there – Portman’s. I’m liking the sound of this gig. We’ll be kicking back, watching Kent do the work. Last night he pulled out an amazing drum solo during Sky Caves In – nearly brought the house down.

Checkya tomorrow.
Fires out.

Winey World, West Palm

We’ve had a couple of great nights – Monterey Club at Fort Lauderdale on Wed night, and Winey World last night in West Palm Beach, Florida. The Monterey is a kick-arse punk club. We played on a great line-up with some fantastic local bands. Then last night we drop into Ian’s House (where the gig was initially scheduled), had a couple of beers & drove down the street to Winey World. Winey and partner Chris have set up an amazing party house, equiped with stage and outdoor tiki area (with BBQ etc) – all centered around a swimming pool.

The guys had set up a PA and lights. The show sounded great, we had a total blast. It was great hanging out with everybody after the show. An awesome night with fantastic people.

Right now we’re on the road to Tampa for a show tonight at Orbit 19 Bar (in Holiday – just outside of Tampa).

Checkya later,
Fires out.
