Played Freedom House in Changsha on Sunday night. The show went great, good crowd in a small room. We were pretty tired after 4 shows in a row in different cities but somehow found the energy to smash out another one. The opening band were great – a Chinese version of Oasis. They totally had it down. Great beer swilling tunes with an epic swagger.

Since Sunday, it’s been a long couple of days working on lap-tops with not much sleep. Tonight we’ll board an overnight ‘sleeper’ train to Hangzhou for the show at 9 Club. These sleeper trains have bunk beds stacked 3 high to the roof right along each carriage – and smoking is allowed (which ain’t so good for the rest of the band). We’re planning on picking up some beers for the journey to knock ourselves out. We should arrive in Hangzhou by 8am.

Hey guys,
Looking forward to seeing you play at 9 Club in Hangzhou tonight!
If you have time beforehand, you might like to join the ANZAC Day BBQ at Vineyard (173 Yugu Road – next to the Yellow Dragon Stadium about 2km S-E of 9 Club).
Things are already getting going with the showing of the Gallipoli dawn service. And, pretty soon, Essendon is going to give Collingwood a footy lesson! 😉
See you all later at Vineyard or tonight at 9 Club.
Cheers,
Tim

Hi there On Fires,
Great to see you guys at 9 Club last night.
Sorry we got there pretty late and didn’t get to see much, but we were expecting the show to go on until 11.30pm. Must have misunderstood the set end time.
Pretty sad to see that Hangzhou couldn’t give you a big welcome as I can see in the other venue photos you’ve played at on this tour.
Although it’s good to have another live venue in this city, 9 Club is a bit too expensive for most people. 48 rmb for a vodka and orange!!!! :((
I hope to see you guys on tour in China next year.
Maybe try to book the Hangzhou Reggae Bar then though. The stage is pretty compact, but you’ll be almost certain of getting a good, active crowd any night of the week.
Good luck on the rest of your China tour.
Cheers,
Tim
PS. I bought your CD last night and I’m looking forward to giving it a listen later on today.

Hi Tim. Hey thanks for dropping us a line. Yeah – the shows can be kinda early here. We must have been traveling & missed your messages too, dammit. Wifi hard to find.
That Anzac dawn service event must have been amazing.
Hangzhou turned out to be an OK show. We probably ended up playing to maybe 40+ people. So not an empty room. It’s the sitting down thing that makes it hard for us to read what the crowd’s feeling.
I’ll let our tour manager know about the Reggae Bar there.
Cheers,
Marty.
