Many thanks to Stalk for the shot below. It was massive yesterday arvo and into the night – the Retreat packed out with Reclink Community Cup patrons piling in after the game. The Megahertz getting over the line in a tight finish (I’m told). The Doggies getting up in the AFL – and me trying not to be distracted by that game on the TV in the front bar while playing. A big crowd in a great pub, rowdy, singing along, dancing. Melbourne winters are all about it. Seeya Sunday.
A fantastic afternoon / evening yesterday at the Retreat for show number 40. Yep – that’s 40 weeks in the chair! Great crowd, cosy in the front bar, and plenty of people all around the pub. Nice to have today off (King’s birthday public holiday). There’ll no doubt be a few sore heads. And I found my phone after having a crew of nice folks looking everywhere for it. Yep, feelin’ like a goose. I’d packed it up with all the gear, neatly into a case. Then set about panicking ‘where’s my phone???’. Anyhoo, all’s well that ends well. Thanks to everybody for a great day & see you again this Sunday. (It’s rumoured Max will be joining us)

Another great Sunday arvo done at the Retreat. Jimmy (Sophisticated Dingo) jumping in for a tune. Great to see our drummer Mick and partner Stace during the show. And yesterday it was an honour to play for the Hawthorn RSL. A great great day in honour of those who’ve served. The weather turning on a beautiful Melbourne day. Slightly hazy this morning, after reconvening at the Retreat last night for the massive ANZAC Day game at the G – the Pies getting up in a thriller.
Another great Sunday afternoon at the Retreat. Reece jumped up for a few tunes in the 4th – a great voice & crowd fav. Prue did a stunning version of Flame Trees. Sean gave us another one of his fine a cappella closers, with Kelly jumping in on the action (first time!). A little dusty today, but loving the post show vibe. See ya Sunday!

It was huge. Played a country themed show from 1-4pm, followed by the Retreat All Star band who totally killed it in the pool room. People dancing on the pool table. Great to see the place soooo packed – the LoJo Festival a resounding success.
This Sunday will be my 30th show there! Kicking off at 3:30pm (back to normal time). Seeya there…
We’ll be playing LoJo Festival this Sunday. Kicking off 1:30pm at Retreat Hotel Abbotsford. Playing a few sets til 4 in ‘country stylin’. The mighty Retreat All Stars will take over from then in the Pool Room! Jamming til late.
